I am now an official refugee. Damn that bitch Rita. It's been a very long night. I left Houston last night at 10:30 I just now made it to my uncle's house just north of Dallas. A trip that I can make in less than 4 hours took over 14 hours.
Fourteen fucking hours that I spent on the road with my mother, my grandpa and his 2 dogs. Talk about a long night. I think I ran out of xanex somewhere around Huntsville. And that bitch at Denny's wouldn't serve me beer....the nerve of some people!
I talked to a gal that I work with this morning, she left Houston 30 minutes after I did and by 10:30 this morning she had only made it to the outskirts of Houston. I can be a map reading fool when I have to be....my expertly planned route saved a great amount of time.
I'm exhausted and can't think of anything funny to say. But I'll leave you with this photo. Jared, my roommate, went shopping for hurricane supplies. This is what he bought:
Two cases of water and ONE can of soup. Sure, it IS Chunky Chicken Noodle, but damn that sure as hell ain't enough for me....I wonder what he's gonna eat.
Be safe everybody...it could get really nasty out there!

Oh, you poor thing! Well at least you are somewhere safe now. Good luck.

Glad to know you're safe!
Two packs of water and a can of soup? What, no astroglide? How does he expect to weather a hurricane without lube?
And he calls himself a homo....
*shakes head sadly*

Water and soup? What about the booze?
Posted by: wirthy | 09/22/2005 at 03:27 PM
Thanks Lil!
Jason: No, no, no....Jared is the straight roomie (looks can be deceiving)....Joey is the Big Fat Homo and I'm pretty sure he buys astroglide in bulk.
Wirthy: You underestimate me, my friend! I already had the booze taken care of. In fact, that's all the hurricane prep I did - bought plenty of beer! :o)

Glad you're in the arms of safety, Girlie.
I was wondering about those poor suckers who got shuttled to Houston in from New Orleans just in time to get shuttled out again.
I think I'd start to take the Hurricane shit personally if they were following me around the country...
Enjoy the time as best you can.
Write.

I told CJ to make sure to call me when you are down here in Dallas and not cooped up in Frisco!

I just love that that was his idea of emergency rations...!

Whew...I'm relieved to hear you're ok! I was thinking about you last night when we were watching the news.
They were showing everyone leaving Houston at a standstill on the freeway...saying that everyone has been stuck for hours....and ppl are even running out of gas while sitting there waiting to go! UGH! I'm glad you made it out of that crap!

Joey, Jared. How do you expect me to tell your man-lovin' roomates apart?
;-)

That's my girl, always looking for the positive in every situation - I love you Christina.
Thanks for your concern J-Roc, I'll catch up with you soon...as you can imagine, cell phones aren't working all that well.
Hey Brian, I snuck over to Dallas last night (Thurs) and stayed with CJ but my family "needs" me here, so I'm back in Frisco now. I think they are overreacting a bit - they want me and my gun here with them.
You are too funny Mr. Irate Indian Man...you know how crazy my roomies are!
Sheesh Sassy, you were thinking of me last night when you were watching the news....gosh, I was hoping you were thinking about me while doing something a little more risque. ;o)
Thanks for all the concern you guys, I will keep you all updated!

Is your booze supply still holding out?
Posted by: wirthy | 09/26/2005 at 02:00 PM
It took me 10 hours to get from West Houston to New Braunfels. That totally sucks. While we were there we went smoking down the river. It was so awsome b/c we were the only ones on it. Ususally there are hundreds but this time of year there was not one person.

Oy vey... one of my neighbors left at 11pm wednesday, got as far as IAH by 7am. we left at 730am thursday, got to IAH then off-45'd it til we got to the Woodlands. they were just 9 exits ahead of us. as for food,... we packed a hella lot, and i also packed 2 campbell's chicken noodle cans, and put them in the middle console... driving and temperature and all that warmed the truck up, when we finally got to Conroe (screw Dallas, too far), the soup was warm to eat. ended up in Brenham after making calls, reading maps, and figuring out the gas situation. meeeeemoriesssss...

Wirthy: There can never be enough booze. You and I, my friend, are living proof of that.
Drywall Mom: Glad you made it there safe and sound. I love New Braunfels, it WOULD be so awesome all alone!
Bum: Ahh yes, memories! Let's just leave it at that....
Thanks for visiting!
:o)
