You shouldn't complain about fuel prices... We Dutch pay 1.40E per *litre*... Yes, that's $1.70 per litre, which equals to $6.42 per gallon. Fcukin' hell.

Ok Thom, you got me there. It sucks all around, I can remember when gas was less than $1 a gallon.
Your public transportation system (at least in Amsterdam) is much better than what's in place here in Houston. Ours is basically impossible to use.

Ah, I wasn't trying to be a bitch or anything, sorry if I sounded harsh :).
Anyway, you're right about Amsterdam, too bad that only goes for the cities around here. I live a few blocks south of the end of the world, and public transport is mainly useless here too. I can only get to one city by bus, and only 1 every 30 minutes, and not before 7am and not after 10pm (so useless for going out, we don't even leave home before 10.30pm!). I can't live a normal life without my car, basically.
But on the fuel prices, it's all a matter of what you're used to. If US prices have risen by, say, 20 cents in a few months, that new price might mean fcuk all compared to Dutch prices, it's still a lot for you guys.
Speaking of fuel, I'm out of petrol. Literally. I need to find a jerrycan and the keys to my mum's car...
