My little brother turns 21

My little brother turns 21 today...crazy, I remember the night he was born just like it was yesterday! Amazingly, I remember my 21st birthday...it involved my best friend - Shelly......and a strip club.......I still remember that lap dance!

 

Uuugghh! I've been extremely busy at work lately, I'm trying to close out a few loans before the end of the month. I've worked late all week, not tonight though...in fact I left 10 minutes early today! Woah! I know, I like to live on the edge. :) Tonight was "family night", usually one night a week my roommates and I get together and go out. Lately though, Joey has been spending all his time with Manuel.....Jared and I miss him.....

 

That's okay, Jared and I (and Manuel too) went to Joey's company party tonight. Free food, free beer and lots of oil field rednecks..what a combination! Talk about a party! Yee Haw, Ya'll!! Poor Manuel, when we left Joey hugged and kissed all over me, but only shook Manuel's hand...they've been dating 10 months. That can' be easy....

 

I can't believe I'll be in Amsterdam in less than three weeks....talk about a dream come true. I even got my passport in the mail today! I'm sleepy and the Rockets are playing...I've got a game to watch!

I Need Another Beer

What a day! Only now have I had time to make a post - 10:15 - we're not talking morning either. I've been busting ass the last few days at work, and staying way past quitin' time.

Today was not a good day, I yelled at baldie and pretty much told the man how it was too - only a little more delicately. Get this, I'm a woman, BUT, I am actually respected in the workplace. More than one reason for this:
1) I'm just like all you guys - I love my beer, my sports and my women. I might like looking
pretty (see #2) every now and then but I like getting my hands dirty too.
2) I know how this world works, I know what the world revolves around.
3) I don't take shit from anybody; I do my job better than anyone before me and better than
anyone to come, I exceed all expectations. That's not me talking- that's every boss I've ever
had. (No, I haven't slept with all of them) :)
4) If I make a mistake, I'm always the first one to acknowledge it. I want to know how to
rectify the situation and how to prevent it from occurring again.
Anyway, the other boss (Teenwolf's Dad) laughed when I gave him the condensed version of the day's events. That just validated my view of today's "discussion".

Blah, blah,blah,......I've had 1,2,3,4,5,.....(ummm I don't count after that) beers and I need another, plus a need to smoke and I could sure use a cigarette too. Need another beer...as Rome says....Out!

No Such Thing As a Free Lunch.....Maybe Beer Though

I gave a homeless man a dollar today, he was standing right next to me at the red light by my house. I give to charity but I never give money to people on the side of the road. On a typical work day, I normally see 4-5 "homeless" people in the intersections begging for money. This one was holding a small sign that had "Hungry" sprawled across it. Something about this guy made me grab a bill from my wallet; it was sad, he was my age, maybe a little bit older and very obviously homeless. He looked so desperate that it scared me, I knew if I gave him money he would go away. I didn't want him next to me, didn't want to think about his problems or how much I take for granted each day. He was watching me. The light had just turned red, quickly I grabbed a dollar and stuck my hand out the window. And just like that, he crossed the intersection and was gone. He went to Diamond Shamrock, I'm sure he bought beer.

I must say, I did something this weekend I never thought I would ever do.......I went to a golf tournament. Jared, my roommate called me Friday night and asked if I wanted to go on Saturday to the Shell Houston Open. I was quite surprised that I enjoyed power walking around this big ass golf course all day long. Even more surprised that I liked watching these men play with their sticks and balls and try to make it in that little hole - wait - that's no surprise. It may shock some of you, but yes, the rumor is true....that was me on the driving range today. I was making an attempt, pathetic as it was, to learn how to hit the golf ball so that one day, I too, could join in on a few rounds with my roommates. Let's just say that I need a lot of work. A lot. I think I hit five good balls out of fifty. If that.....and I had a really hard time even connecting with the ball.....who'd of thought I'd have that problem? It's not an excuse, I know that I stink either way, but I might be a left handed golfer, and I was using Jared's clubs. I hit one ball over 130 feet, I think that was good for my first time. I was badly sunburned and generally exhausted yesterday, now my arms are very sore. And yes, my lips hurt real bad. With all this golf, I'm wondering what's happened to the redneck in me? Is it gone since I've moved to the big city? I'm not sure how that works......we do have a donkey in our backyard though.

Ok, I have TONS of favorite movies but I must say, those Brits have the romantic comedies down. I think my all time favorite movie is Love Actually . Totally great love story....one of my favorite lines of all times......it's a big one, here we go.......

"To me, you are perfect"

That's what I want, that's what I need. Note another British movie: Bridget Jones' Diary and another favorite line:

"I like you just as you are".

Like I said, that's all I want....okay, you got me; I've been to happy hour and I had quite a few drinks. Nonetheless, I'm not changing who I am for anybody.....
